This 21st Newsletter is being written as 1998, the penultimate year of the century draws to a close. It is 42 years since our first grapes were planted and soon we will have been out here at Mount Mary for 30 years. Some reflection therefore might be excusable and perhaps a little self-congratulation for achieving some of our goals and for the high esteem in which our wines are held not only in Australia but Internationally. The wines have established a reputation for their complexity and consistency of quality, flavour, delicacy and elegance. They have been repeatedly mistaken for imported wines since the middle 1970’s in masked tastings. However their prices relative to those with which they are confused have been very low. They have been a bargain.
